Mark your calendars for the Elsevier MDL 2007 European Users' Group Meeting to be held in Strasbourg at the end of February. The theme of the 2007 conference is "delivering innovation on a solid foundation" — using proven technologies to improve R&D productivity by integrating workflow and content throughout the value chain.
Hear from your colleagues who are working with the MDL® Isentris® system and new Isentris-based workflow applications. Learn how they can be used to create efficient and seamless workflows and to provide scientists and project teams with the information, tools and context they need to make smarter decisions. Swap notes with others who have faced similar challenges to yours, and quiz Elsevier MDL experts on new products and solutions.
The conference will include a keynote presentation given by Dr. Kurt Wüthrich, the recipient of the 2002 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, plenary talks from customers and Elsevier MDL staff, and scheduled product demonstrations. There will be a full social program for networking and informal interactions including a welcome reception on Sunday February 25, and the conference dinner at La Cour de Honau on Monday, February 26.
The Hilton Strasbourg is a well-appointed hotel ideally located to help you enjoy the city to the full. It is within walking distance of the European Institutions facing the Congress Centre and only a few minutes from the city centre on foot or by the tramway.

Application development with Isentris® controls
This one-day course is designed for application developers. Participants will learn how to build custom applications using Isentris controls in a Microsoft .NET development environment. This course provides hands-on development experience with Isentris controls.
Course Outline:
- Introduction: Overview of the MDL® Isentris® architecture, demonstration of rapid application development using Isentris controls
- Connection: Connect to Isentris data sources using the IsentrisControlsManager to automatically synchronize data-aware controls
- Querying: Use querying controls to create an application for searching chemical structures and associated data
- Browsing: Create data display forms, implement a runtime form creation tool, create pop-up forms, and implement cherry picking
- History: Manage the search history, list logic, preferences, search domains and print reports
- Object storage: Export and import files and lists to the client and to Isentris Object Store Pro on the server; export data to Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheet software
Prerequisites:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft .NET development environment
- General knowledge of database searching and browsing applications
